One thing that is often forgotten when talking about the resilience these pesky mosquitoes have is also the dangerous diseases they can carry and transmit. There are over 100 mosquito-borne diseases that can affect humans. Some of these commonly known diseases are the West Nile Virus, Zika Virus, Heartworm, Malaria, Encephalitis, and Chikungunya.
Like mosquitoes, ticks also carry and transmit dangerous diseases. Ticks can feed off their hosts blood for hours, days, or even weeks. They often go undetected because they do not hurt or itch. The most commonly known tick-borne disease is Lyme disease which unfortunately isn’t easy to diagnose. Unfortunately, the list of tick-borne diseases does not limit itself to only Lyme diseases.
